Unlike an eBook or PDF, a physical book is set in stone. While we've done our best to proofread and incorporate the feedback of beta readers into The Science of Shrimp Keeping, there are likely areas of improvement that our readers will point out in the early versions of the book. Incremental improvements are a principle of science and something we want to incorporate in all Shrimply Expained resources. We'll periodically take new feedback into later versions to improve readability and utility and release those to everyone who purchases the eBook. Any readers who purchase the digital copy will receive a discount on the physical version once it is available.
This eBook was created to accomplish the same goals as other Shrimply Explained resources - to make shrimp keeping easier, more fun, and to save shrimp lives! When we first entered the hobby five years ago, there was plenty of content on shrimp keeping but it was filled with contradictions and most of it was supported by evidence like "trust me, bro". There are also a lot of useful tips, but there's often no organization or they're hidden within two-hour long videos.
Some people love doing the research - combing through forums, running through a bunch videos at 2x speed while taking notes, analyzing research papers, etc., and that's great. Go for it!
If you don't want to do that, and instead want tons of science-backed information at your fingertips without hundreds of hours of research, then this eBook is for you :)
It depends on what you mean by "AI". Did we use Word's autocorrect feature to help with typos? Yep!
Did we just plug a bunch of prompts into ChatGPT and then copy the answer? Nope, the writing and images are all human, which is why it took... nearly 3 years to write this... Jeez, maybe we should have used AI.
Yes :)
